This theme highlights the creative use of light, shadow, and contrast to enhance mood, form, and drama. Darkness is not merely the absence of light but can also be treated as a subject in its own right—creating mystery, ambiguity, and atmosphere. Photographers are encouraged to explore the interplay between highlights, shadows, and areas of darkness, using illumination to sculpt objects, figures, or environments. Examples may include high-contrast architecture, portraits with dramatic or minimal lighting, or scenes where darkness plays an integral role in the composition. This competition was for prints only.
